I have chosen the gender theme for this module, in which I must resolve the following question:
"To what extent does advertising construct our ideas of gender?"
During our session we were asked to create a hypothesis for our chosen questions:
"Advertising has influenced societies expectations of gender and roles through sexualisation, stereotypes and rules to adhere to to fit it's standards. Females are seen as the vain sex, there for the viewing pleasure of men. I believe that the female body is predominantly sexualised, and rejected regarding maternal or non-sexual terms. In my essay I plan to research this notion and explore this topic."
